Anyone can do it! No matter your experience, enjoy the snowy outdoor wilderness as you walk on special skis!

Snow hiking is an increasingly popular winter sport that allows you to enjoy walking, climbing, and sliding freely on the snow with a special type of short skis. These special skis allow you to walk on the snowy surface without sinking, and unlike snowshoes, the skis give you the freedom to either walk or slide, depending on the situation. To prevent you from slipping backward, special traction pads on the bottom of the skis enable you to climb uphill. And, while of course, you can take to the slopes by yourself, we recommend heading out with one of our guides who, for lunch, will help you dig out a snow table where you can sit and enjoy a meal as you warm up with coffee. Whether you are a novice or a pro, snow hiking is the perfect way to enjoy the winter scenery of Yamagata with comfort, ease, and, most of all, good company!
