ZAO ONSEN

Zao Onsen is a hot spring resort known for its distinctive highly acidic sulfur scent. It takes about 40 minutes by bus from JR East Yamagata Station. In continuous operation since 1900, the acidic sulfur composition found in the spring’s hot water are known for making your skin beautiful. This historical and cultural hot spring village is home to three public bathhouses and three footbaths.

It is Yamagata’s best hot spring leisure resort, where winter sports can be enjoyed in the wintertime and outdoor trekking can be done in the summertime.

GINZAN ONSEN

A mysterious hot spring village with a history of spanning over 600 years and counting.
